It’s Springtime! Have you checked your tires lately?
Congratulations, you’ve made it through another long Chicago winter! Now that it’s spring, you might want to check the condition of your tires. Winter weather takes a toll on those road warriors, especially if you didn’t put snow treads on at the beginning of the season. The drastic change in outside temperature that accompanies the change of seasons here, particularly from winter to spring and fall to winter, can play havoc with your tires’ air pressure. If they’re not all properly inflated you lose gas mileage, tread life and optimal driving performance, plus risk your and your passengers’ safety.
Fortunately, today’s vehicles are equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) that illuminates a low tire pressure ‘telltale’ () when one or more of your tires is significantly under-inflated. Accordingly, when this low tire pressure warning appears on your dashboard, you should check your tires as soon as possible and inflate them to the proper pressure.
